Meinir Wyn Roberts
Welsh Soprano Meinir Wyn Roberts graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester with a First Class B.Mus (Hons) Degree. She subsequently completed her M.A Degree at the Royal Academy of Music, London and hasrecently completed their Opera Course, under the tutelage of Lillian Watson and Jonathan Papp. Recently she performed in Saul by Handel for Glyndebourne Festival at the Theatre de Chatelet in Paris. In 2019 she played the role of Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Nevill Holt Opera. She also performed Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) for Opra Cymru and in a concert performance with Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra. In the summer of 2018, she joined the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus for their productions of Saul, Vanessa and Giulio Cesare and the Glyndebourne Touring Chorus for 2018/19 where she covered the role of Noemie in Cendrillon.
Meinir was a Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artist in 2016. In the 2017/18 Season, Meinir performed in recital at the Wigmore Hall as part of the Royal Academy Song Circle Group; Agilea in Teseo with La Nuova Musica at the London Handel Festival and Tina in Flight (Dove), the Title Role in Alcina, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Minerve in Orphee aux enfers and Polly Peachum in Die Dreigroschenoper for Royal Academy Opera. Prizes and awards include a participant in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition 2019, Semi- finalist in the Royal Over-Seas League Competition (2019,) finalist in the 2018 MOCSA Young Welsh Artist of the Year, winner of the 2015 International Voice of the Future Competition at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, winner of the W. Towyn Roberts Scholarship, the Osborne Roberts Blue Riband Scholarship and the Violet Mary Lewis Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Whilst at the Royal Northern College of Music, she was a finalist in the prestigious Gold Medal Competition, highly commended in the Frederic Cox Award for Singing and was a recipient of the 2014 Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award and Dame Eva Turner Award. Future engagements include Giulietta Cover for Garsington Opera as an Alvarez Young Artist 2020.
