Magdalenna Krstevska
A passionate and dynamic performer, Melbourne-born clarinetist Magdalenna Krstevska is steadily paving her way as one of Australia’s leading young musicians. She has performed as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral clarinetist in renowned music halls across Australia, the UK, Europe and China.
After graduating from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours in 2015, Magdalenna completed her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), under David Thomas. Her accolades include the Australian National Young Virtuoso of the Year, 3MBS Young Performer of the Year, the Australian Music Foundation’s Nora Goodridge Developing Artist award and second place/Audience Choice in the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition.
A highly experienced orchestral musician, Magdalenna has performed with orchestras all over Australia, including the Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony, Melbourne Chamber, Opera Australia and Australian World orchestras, among others. In 2018, she was selected into the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s prestigious Fellowship program, during which she performed in over twenty-five mainstage programs and a European tour, playing in such halls as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Berlin Philharmonie, Paris Philharmonie and Vienna Konzerthaus.
As a strong advocate of diversity in classical music, Magdalenna is founder of the Corelia Project, an initiative that spotlights women composers through the performance and promotion of their works for clarinet and chamber ensemble. She is also a founding member of the Delphine Trio with cellist Jobine Siekman and pianist Roelof Temmingh.
Magdalenna completed a Master of Performance with Distinction at the Royal College of Music, London in July 2021. She is thrilled to be the RCM 2021/22 Mills Williams Junior Fellow. Her teachers are Timothy Lines, Peter Sparks and Richard Hosford.
